Content Briefs
Create structured briefs so writers know exactly what to produce.
What is a Brief?
A content brief is a structured document that tells a writer exactly what to produce. Instead of a vague Slack message like "write a blog post about SEO," a brief includes audience, tone, keywords, word count, and format requirements.
Creating a Brief
- From the calendar, click New Brief or drag an idea onto a date
- Enter a seed description — a sentence or two about what you need
- Fill in the structured fields: audience, tone, keywords, word count, format
- Assign a writer and set a deadline
- Click Create — the writer is notified with the complete brief
Brief Fields
- Audience — who is this content for?
- Tone — formal, casual, technical, conversational?
- Keywords — target keywords for SEO
- Word Count — expected length
- Content Type — blog post, social post, email, newsletter, case study
- Format Requirements — any structural requirements (e.g., include a CTA, use subheadings)
From Brief to Approval
Once a writer submits their draft, it becomes a document in Writerflow and enters the approval workflow automatically. The brief stays attached as context so reviewers understand the original intent.
